💙 Q&A with Lauren, ISSA Fitness Nutritionist 💙

A decade ago there was only one treatment option that targeted fat, and that is liposuction. Today, however, innovations in fat reduction technology have supported the rise of non-invasive fat reduction treatments. Many of them are non-surgical, no need for anesthesia, and have minimal to no down time afterwards.

Here at True Life Canvas we offer Emsculpt Neo®, which is the first, and only, machine that combines the technology of fat reduction and muscle toning. Emsculpt Neo® utilizes electromagnetic and radiofrequency energy in tandem with each other. The electromagnetic energy causes muscles in the area to contract thousands of times during the treatment. The radiofrequency energy permanently destroys fat cells and tightens and rejuvenates the skin. EmSculpt Neo destroys 30% of the fat in treated areas, and builds 25% more muscle than just doing traditional resistance training. This results in optimal muscle toning, increased definition, and more strength. And after the fat cells have been eliminated, your body naturally flushes them out through your lymph system, resulting in a slimmer and more sculpted physique.

Many people are asking how Emsculpt Neo® differs from other non-surgical techniques, in particular, CoolSculpting®. So a little background on CoolSculpting®, it was first FDA-approved for the treatment of fat on flanks (sides) in 2010, and then approved for the stomach in 2012. CoolSculpting® works by freezing fat cells which makes them die permanently, causing you to lose fat in that area. This technique is said to destroy about 25% of the fat in areas treated. CoolSculpting® uses a fat-freezing technology called cryolipolysis. The CoolSculpting® applicator suctions the skin and fatty tissue into the cooling cups, where they are brought to a temperature cold enough to stimulate fat cells to die.

The biggest difference between Emsculpt Neo® and CoolSculpting® is what they target and treat. Emsculpt Neo® is used to build muscle and eliminate fat, while CoolSculpting® is used solely to achieve fat loss. CoolSculpting® and Emsculpt Neo® have different maintenance requirements. After a patient has finished their CoolSculpting® treatment plan and achieved their optimal results, their results should remain permanent as long as they don’t gain any weight. The fat loss from Emsculpt Neo® is also permanent provided the patient doesn’t gain weight. However, gains in muscle tone are not. These will fade with time in the same way muscles do when you stop working out. Patients who want to maintain the muscle definition they achieved from Emsculpt Neo® can get follow-up treatments every 3 to 6 months.

Fighting the battle of the bulge is no fun. The struggle is real and it’s filled with endless crunches and squats. Restrictive eating and cutting calories leaves you feeling like you’ll see results. Yet, stubborn pockets of fat remain. This is where noninvasive, nonsurgical treatments can bring you to your body goals quickly, without surgery. Emsculpt Neo® will give you results in two areas, muscle building and toning, as well as fat reduction. Whereas CoolSculpting® is used just to target fat stores. So why not get more bang for your buck, and shape your body through building muscle while losing fat at the same.
